Installation of bored piles


To install a pile you should drill a borehole of a specified diameter and depth. Next the borehole should be filled by fine-aggregated concrete and reinforced with a metal frame of a required cut. So, the bored piles are installed and concreted directly on a site. The diameter varies up to 1500mm and depth - up to 10m or 30 m and more. To increase bearing capacity the piles should be installed with a widening at the bottom of the borehole (a foot of pile). Mostly such types of bored piles are used in situations when there are heavy loads to a foundation and the few compressible soils are deep-seated.

What is a Pile driver?

Strictly speaking, a piledriver is any device that drives poles (also called piles) into the ground to add foundation support. The most basic version of a pile driver is simply a guided weight placed on a pole, which is then raised into the air and driven down onto a pole. These devices have been used in the construction field for many years, and many different models exist.

(a) Tower or Mast Construction.
The tower or mast construction forming the supports for the machinery and guide members shall be designed and installed to support the load and forces specified.
(b) Protection of Spaces Below Hoistways.
Where the space below the hoistway is used for a passageway or is occupied by persons or, if unoccupied, is not secured against unauthorized access, the following requirements shall be met:
(1) Hoist counterweights shall be provided with a Type “A” or “B,” or rack and pinion safety. Broken-rope type safeties may be provided on car counterweights.

CLEARING WITH EQUIPMENT

The use of engineer equipment is the most rapid and efficient method of clearing. The use of such equipment is limited only by un-usually large trees, stumps, and terrain that decrease the maneuverability of the equipment and increase maintenance requirements. This type of equipment includes bulldozers; tree-dozer, tractor mounted units; tractor-mounted clearing units; winches; power saws; rippers; and motor graders. In addition, pioneer tools are used for some clearing operations. Table 4-2 summarizes the limitations and proper applications of engineer equipment in clearing operations. Use production rates of equipment under normal operating conditions for determining the total time required for the job. Clearing rates are discussed in FM 5-434. Limitations and applications for each type of equipment follow.
